The public has being pouring out tributes to the mighty duke and condolences to his family. And let me just extend my condolences to Mighty Duke’s loved one and the calypso fraternity.

The Mighty Duke
The Mighty Duke passed away due to an incurable blood disorder known as myelofibrosis which prevents the body from making new blood cells. Duke fought a battle with this disease for a period of five years, however, on January 14th, at the age of 77, he succumbed to the disease.
Duke is known as a man with tremendous wisdom, not only about the world of calypso, but also about music and world issues at large. Aside from being the best dressed calyposian there ever was and being a real gentleman, he was a true professional in practicing the calypso art form. He has set very high standards for others in the field. He is credited with being the only calypsonian to ever win the National Calypso Monarch title four years in a row. He truly loved the art form, a love that was demonstrated when he left his job in the oil field to become a full time calypsonian.
We have lost a promoter of the art form and an ambassador of the people of Trinidad and Tobago. Rest in peace Mighty Duke!
Gone but not forget. R.I.P.
