For all of you who are living under a rock, Google has launched a new web browser that just happens to be more than just a web browser. By providing us with Google Chrome, Google has given us a podium to do everything on the web.

Google is seemingly making every attempt to take over the web. Already “Google” has become a household name and everyone uses the phrase “Google it” to refer to doing searches, for anything you can think of on Google’s search engine. It would be an understatement to say that Google is popular. We depend on Google to provide us with information from everything from Barack Obama, to how to grow a plum tree, to Google itself. The more we depend on Google the more money Google makes because Google makes billions from advertising and who wouldn’t want to advertise with them considering the amount of traffic they generates.

Google has design Google Chrome with the intent of meeting the needs of today’s web users and web applications. Applications which include watching and downloading videos, chatting, and playing web based game. Google has listened to the expressed needs of web user and has design a web browser to meet our desires.

On the surface it is very user friendly and modest but underneath it is built to run all that is important on the web and has the engine of a Ferrari. And you know what? They are not even done yet.

I’ve been using it for a few weeks now and it works fine, in fact it’s my preferred web browser ever since a software update rendered Internet Explorer a useless icon on my desk top. I’ve only come across one bug, if you can call it that. When ever you hit the back arrow twice in quick succession, the program sometime closes.

Hey, Google chrome is not as great as everyone thinks it is.

No.1) Ever had numerous tabs open in Chrome and press the ‘x’ in the top right hand corner? What happens? All the tabs closes without a prompt asking the user if they are sure that they want to close all the windows. Firefox has this.

No.2) Since I am on the topic of tabs. Every modern browser sports the ability to open multiple tabs in the same window. Google chrome has this functionality too, but their technique is quite different. Instead of truly opening multiple tabs in the same window, each tab is opened as a separate window giving the user the impression that each tab is in the one window (a sort of pseudo tabbing. So what is so bad about this? Each tab is counted as a new Chrome window (instance) thus each tab added consumes more and more memory (check your task manager under the processes tab). Damn memory hog! Firefox is not programmed to operate like this.

No.3) “ever since a software update rendered Internet Explorer a useless icon” seems like the WGA monster has been at work again.
