She holds the world record for the first boxer to win the most belts in one fight. She broke 5 world records in her boxing career something that no other boxer male or female has ever done. She had conquered the world at the tender age of 21, and it is at this tender age she was conquered by death.

Jizelle Salandy with belts
Jizelle Salandy passed away on January 4th 2009 at 8:29am at the Port of Spain General Hospital where she succumbed to injury which occurred when the Toyota Yaris in which she was traveling slammed into a concrete pillar on the Beetham Highway. The medical team spent 15 minuets attempting to revive her but to no avail.
Jizelle was truly a role model, one that represents of the possibilities a person could arise to despite their circumstances. Born to a mother who was a drug addict, and ironically she was discovered punching a boxing bag while nursing a broken arm. She was meant to rise above all.
People something is definitely going wrong on our nation’s roads. We need to unite in prayer for safety on the nation roads; we need to unite in taking a stance to encourage those in authority to put measures in place to discourage lawlessness on the nation’s roads. Respect the speed limit! If you are sleepy stop and rest in a safe place! If you have been drinking do not drive! And when you get behind the wheel say a prayer!

Even though I never knew her, it marvels me that such a young person could accomplish such a feat and put the Caribbean on the world map. That is great. Jizzi, u will be missed. My condolences go out to her loved ones.
We celebrated with you and now we mourn for you, your memory will live on forever.
People please take your time on the road, arrive alive!!!
Jizelle…what a sad loss!
…but remember just before her accidental death, there was another accident involving Richard Thompson…I wonder if accidents really happen by accident? Think about it.
