Ansa McAL- Employee Cuts Last Resort

Can Ansa McAL be classified as the employer of the year? Well the National Union of Government and Federated Workers (NUGFW) sure do think so. Recently, at the Tatil building in Maraval, the NUGFW presented the group with the employer of the year award.

Ansa McAL’s chairman and chief executive Norman Sabga proudly boasted that the group offers high wage rates, the best in health and pension plans, a safe work environment and other benefits, including the opportunity to own shares in the company. Another reason they can be viewed as the employer of the year is their view that in spite of the financial crisis the last measure they plan to take is cutting the jobs of their employees such anything go wrong with the company (when situations really arises we shall see what actual takes place).

The president of NUGFW, James Lambert, stated that Ansa McAL was chosen over other organizations because they were the first to assure the union that they would work with the union on labor issues. “We felt that they were the most deserving. All companies, even in the public sector, are looking at their finances due to cutbacks in the budget and the global financial meltdown. Ansa was the one that firstly called in the executive of the union.” he said.

Notice that Sabga didn’t say they wouldn’t cut jobs
just that it would be a last resort.
That could be twisted to mean anything when they are finally meet with the financial pressures much of the world now face.
    Time will tell.
