The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

I truly loved the premise of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button not to mention the visual effects used in the telling of this story which left me in awe. The technology utilized in this film made the backward aging process seem totally believable.

In the movie, Brad Pitt’s character is a man born in his eighties with cataracts and all, who ages backwards until he becomes a tiny baby again. Views are invited to follow the story of this man through a film which is set in New Orleans from the end of World War One in 1918 to the 21st century.

The overall moral of the movie is that time does not stop for anyone, even for someone whose body ages backwards. The movie is loosely based on a 1922 short story by F Scott Fitzgerald, which examines the span of a human life. This film has even been compared to Forest Gump, my favorite movie of all time. The film is in fact epic in nature. Some have even complained that the film is too long; I never felt bored or became disinterested even once while watching the film. It kept my attention as I was extremely curious to witness a man’s entire life cycle. I was drawn in by the poetic love story that was craftily told.

This is really a perfect example of art imitation life. Button is a good man who continually struggles to be understood, similar to many of us. And there are only a few people around him who could truly see who he was and loved him despite of his deposition. And isn’t that what we all want, to be understood and loved for who we truly are?
