Police Officer Wrote Poem For Obama

The Newsday Newspapers published a very inspiring story of a police officer poet who has been inspired by Obama. Transit Police Corporal Philbert Lendore is a man with many talents; he is a former fingerprint expert and an award winning poet. In light of the Summits of the Americas set to take place on our shores and with the first black American president set to attend, Lendore was moved to produce a poem called ‘That man Barack Obama: Yes We Can, Yes We Did’. The poem highlights the history making significance of Obama’s presidency.  The poet speaks of Martin Luther King’s dream being realized because Obama was not judged by the colour of his skin, but rather by the content of his character. Lendore’s poem also speaks of God’s role in putting Obama in a position of great leadership by quoting the biblical scripture that says “The stone that the builder’s refused has now become the headstone of the corner”. Transit Police Corporal Philbert Lendore work is definitely a must read.
